Four Masters GAA

Cul Camp 2018

Cul Camp at Tir Conaill Park

Last week Four Masters hosted the annual Cul Camp run by the GAA the length and breadth of Ireland. The camp in Tir Conaill saw huge numbers turning out for all over the country. As well as the familiar faces of club players there were children from Dublin, Down and even the USA, taking part. All in all 147 children enjoyed a  fantastic week’s fun with high level of coaching evident from these young coaches.  We are very lucky to have such wonderful facilities which caters for such large numbers.

The camp was spearheaded by Head Coach Brian Roper who, along with his well tutored assistant coaches worked tirelessly all week, in sometimes unpleasant weather conditions, to provide a wide variety of fun based games and drills to improve the skill level of those who attended.

It was evident that  all the coaches brought something new and different to the camp which the children really liked, and were able to adapt despite the bad weather over the course of the camp. The coaches were highly complementary with the overall behaviour of the children and were delighted with their enthusiasm and skill levels when playing hurling and football. The coaches play a huge role in ensuring the children come away every day with a smile on their faces and reports back from parents was that that was the case every day.

Thanks to all who assisted with registration, food, (Conor Gillespie, Odie McBride and Deirdre Dillon), clean up and Gerry Timoney who made sure the tuck shop was well stocked for the week.

Finally, a huge thanks must go to the children and their parents for attending and supporting the camp.
