Four Masters GAA

Four Masters’ Ladies Senior team

Four Masters’ Ladies Senior team opened their league campaign on Sunday when they played Glenswilly in Tirconaill Park. Glenswilly was well organised as this team has played together for many years. Four Masters took a while to settle but they competed strongly in all areas of the pitch. Inexperience was a factor with Four Masters and lack of shooting practice cost them valuable scores. Despite the fact that Four Masters had the majority of the possession in the second half they failed to capitalise and Glenswilly ran out winners on the day on a score of 3-8 to 0-9.

Despite losing, this was a very gutsy first outing for the home team and it was evident to all who came out to support that these girls are dedicated and enthusiastic about their football. Hannah Crawford was outstanding leading the attack and driving forward. Still minors, both herself and Dionne Carr played with great energy and skill. Undoubtedly the score of the day was a tasty little point tapped over by Cliodhna Thomas who came on as a sub in the second half. Quite a few traveled from college for the game and even girls sitting exams eagerly donned the blue and white jersey. On Sunday next they face Killybegs in Tirconaill Park again, as Finntra pitch is closed. Killybegs is a strong, physical side so the girls will have to take their chances in front of the goals on Sunday if they are to emerge victorious. Support once again is greatly appreciated. Training resumes on Wednesday at 7.30 pm.
